Writing this in case it's useful to any other swablu/atlaria collectors out there. For now, images are taken from Google (usually ebay if there are no official photos floating around), but I may replace some with photos of my own collection later. I may also post this to Tumblr with better pics later instead, likely under (tokyocyberdetectives).
2003 - Altaria Pokedoll
I don't believe knock offs of this exist, but I think they should because you won't find an Altaria pokedoll for less than like $200-300 (USD) nowadays. I picked mine up in 2013-2014 for $40, and had I not been a broke college student at the time thinking that was already a lot of money, I should have gotten a couple more.
It has a red Pokedoll tag. Mine unfortunately fell off (was in college at the time and moved a lot, so I completely lost the tag), so I have to rely on google photos for pictures of it.
Overall, 10/10 in cuteness, but very expensive and hard to get for a decent price. The white material they used for the body is a little prone to attracting lint, but it can be cleaned.
2004 - Altaria Banpresto UFO 6-inch plush
The going rate for these isn't too bad considering the size and how old they are (it's just a little smaller than the pokedoll), but I think these were cheaper to begin with as they were prizes one could win from a crane game.
I picked one up in 2022 for about $40 off of ebay. Mine has the tag still, so I'll take a picture later, but it's in Japanese and shows the other UFO plushies in the set.
This one has the same issues with lint as the Pokedoll.
2014-2015? - Pokemon Center Original, 7 3/4-inches, Altaria Poke Plush
(photo from USPC)
I've gotta double check the date on this one, but I know it came out while I was in college, the school year after I lived with a pokemon-obsessed roommate.
It retailed for about $23, and is still listed on the USPC website, though I haven't seen it in stock in years. I was unable to find listings on ebay surprisingly, but Japanese secondhand places like Surugaya may still occasionally have one for close to retail value (however, you're more likely to pay a lot in shipping to import it).
I bought mine close to when it first released. I wasn't aware of USPC at the time (and I think I picked it up before USPC had it anyway), so I got mine off of Amazon, when buying 3rd party and/or secondhand there was still pretty dang cheap.
I completely forgot, but mine's also from Japan too, so the tag is different. I think the US release had its own USPC tag, before they were redesigned.
2015 - Sanei All Stars Altaria
He's a silky little fellow!
At the time of writing this, there seem to be many listings for this one, ranging from $16 to $60. Asakura-Japan, that I think many pokeplush collectors use to buy JP-only goods, still has it in stock for $16-19.
I picked mine up in 2015 for about $17 from Amazon (when it was still good).
2015 - Doki Doki Contest Live, Mega Altaria Plush Mascot
If you're unfamiliar with terms thrown around in JP-merch, "mascot" usually just means it's small and on a keychain.
This one never made it outside Japan, so the quantity is limited. Pokevault used to sell them for $20 or so, but it's been out of stock for a long time. Last I checked, it was cheaper to use Buyee or something to buy from JP Mercari, for the equivalent of $70 USD if you want it relatively clean or with the tag. Ebay has a listing for double that.
For that price, the size, and the design not being my favorite, this is one of the few plush I don't have. However, it's also the only official mega-altaria plush out there right now, so if I suddenly find myself with a windfall, I might have to snag one.
2015 - HIP POP PARADE Swablu - Mascot, Coin Purse, etc
There is no face on this one, it was an odd series that focused on pokemon's butts. It comes in a mascot/keychain version, as well as a slightly larger coin purse version. I only have the mascot version, which I picked up in 2022 for like $12 off of ebay, but it looks like Pokevault has both versions in stock still for like $30.
There was also a larger cushion version, which I was unaware existed until I started writing this, and it's never showed up for me on JP-only sites for sale. And now that I'm reading more, there may be a difference between the coin purse and the pass case? There are also other random non-plush goods, like magnets, that were part of this line. Hm, I might need to keep an eye out for the large cushion 'cause it's so different, whereas the mascot, coin purse, and pass case all look enough alike (aside from the latter two having some actual function).
There were a number of other goods related to this series - I have a set of rubber charms, for example. I'm having trouble finding a list of all of them, but will update this if I learn more.
(Also, if you don't live in a place with decent public transit (like me in the US, what a hell hole in this regard especially), pass cases are meant to hold an IC card (Suica, Pasmo, etc), which is a little plastic card that you can add money onto and use on the subway, at vending machines, and various other stores. Hong Kong's Octopus card works in the same way. An aside, but I was in Japan somewhat recently and picked up a (non-plush) Mimikyu pass case to use there - it's nice to have a place to store the card that's harder to lose.)
2016 - Altaria Petit Mascot and Pastel Petit Mascot
1st image is the non-pastel version, 2nd is pastel
They're essentially the same plush, just with different coloring, though my Pastel one is also just a smidge larger?
I think these were JP-only.
I was able to pick up the non-pastel version in 2016 off of Amazon again, for about $16. I didn't get the pastel version until 2021, for I think $20 off of Surugaya. At the time of writing this, I can only find a listing for the non-pastel version on ebay for about $32 (but I also haven't checked JP-only sites yet).
2016 - Swablu Secret Base Pokedoll - Mascot, 6 inch
(There's also a version where it's on the tip of a pen - found one listing for $65, but it retailed for $15-ish)
The mascot is relatively cheaper - I picked one up in 2019 for $9 from USPC, though they're out of stock now. I'm seeing an ebay listing for about $23, which is a bit more pricey.
I picked up the larger version in 2022 from Surugaya for about $20, however they're out of stock now too. The design between the two sizes is just different enough that I wanted both, plus my mascot-sized version is just a little funny looking.
I really like this design, it's cute, it's round, it's fluffy, which are the three things I really enjoy in Pokemon designs. I also prefer it when they stylize them more (I can only dream that we'll get a Saiko Soda line with Altaria or Swablu). However, the mascot version especially seems to have had not-great quality control, as they tend to look pretty different from each other.
2018 - Cuddly Altaria / Mofu Mofu Paradise
At about 8 inches tall, this one's a cutie. I am not the biggest fan of the material used here, and tbh I think this line in general could have used more stuffing, but there's no denying it's still cuddly.
It retailed for $20, and still has a listing on USPC, but hasn't been in stock in years.
2020 - Tokyo Mega Restoration Swablu - Mascot and larger
JP-exclusive, the line also has a mascot and slightly larger plush of Pikachu with the same flower.
I picked up a larger version in 2022 from Meccha Japan for $20-ish. It seems like there are other listings still that aren't too much more expensive.
2021 - Sitting Cuties Swablu / Altaria - Also known as Fit.
They came out in different waves, but I got both the year they released. Sitting Cuties / Fit is a line where the goal is to make 1. small plush sitting pokemon for an affordable price, and 2. for every pokemon.
They retailed for $11 a piece, and some sitting cuties still occasionally restock, so check USPC before anything. However, restocks are rare and unpredictable, so you may have better luck trying to buy from JP. Sites like Meccha-Japan or even secondhand sites like Surugaya may offer better prices than ebay.
The tags are different depending on country of origin. US tags are standard Pokemon Center tags, but JP has specific Pokemon Fit tags.
2021 - Comfy Friends Swablu - also known as Fuwa Fuwa Daiki
it is large, it is round, it is fluffy. This is my favorite Swablu plush out there, I just worry that since it's so white it's going to need to be cleaned more often, which I'm hesitant to do, so mine sits on my desk and I pat its head every so often.
It retailed for $36, but with resellers, you're looking more at $60. Places like Surugaya have them sporadically in stock for maybe 6000-8000 yen.
2022 - Screen Cleaner Swablu
Not technically a plush, but it's funny, and soft, so I'm listing it here. I bought mine from Meccha Japan for $25. If you're in Japan, they're still in stock in person as of May 2023.
2022 - Life sized Altaria
Retailing for a whopping $500, and being like 4 feet long, I don't have this one unfortunately, which is a shame because I really like the design of this one, but the only way I'll get it is if I win the lotto or something. USPC says it's no longer available, even though I thought they were made to order and it hasn't even been available that long, so that's disappointing.
Resellers are naturally upcharging the shit out of it, especially due to shipping costs of something that big, but Meccha Japan still lists in as in stock for $400-something. But again, then you have to factor in shipping costs, which will likely cost an arm and a leg.
